CHURCH REPORT HUALIEN EARTHQUAKE AFTERMATH
Saints: Generally safe. About 10 were hospitalized for physical injuries or extreme fright but have since been discharged. About 20 families or 40 saints are currently homeless and are temporarily staying in saints’ homes, church meeting halls, and shelters.
Property: The ten-storey Tung Hua building adjacent to the meeting hall of Hualien has been cordoned off because of damages. The entire second floor (about 660 sqm) is owned by the church and there are more than 10 units on the higher floors privately-owned by saints. The Uranus building which contains a unit owned by a saint was also damaged and is tilted.
